Stay Cool in Maitland this Summer
Your air conditioning system doesn’t just keep the cabin comfortable. It also enhances windscreen visibility, humidity control and air quality. If it stops working properly, it’s not always about low refrigerant. Blown fuses, faulty sensors, worn relays or damaged wiring are often the real culprits, and we know how to find and fix them. As licensed auto sparkies with ARCtick certification, we can also handle the refrigerant side, providing a complete, legal, and safe service in one go.

FAQ
Is it normal for water to drip under the car when the A/C is running?
Yes, it’s completely normal. When your car’s air conditioning is on, it pulls moisture from the air as part of the cooling process. That moisture collects on the evaporator coil and drains out through a small hose under the car. The result is a puddle of water that appears under the vehicle, usually on the passenger side. If the drip stops altogether or you notice water inside the cabin instead, the drain could be blocked and should be checked.
How long should car air conditioning repairs take?
It depends on the type of repair. A basic re-gas or leak test might take less than an hour, while more involved jobs—like replacing a compressor, fixing wiring faults or diagnosing intermittent cooling issues—can take several hours or even longer. Complex repairs may also involve sourcing parts or removing interior components, which adds to the time. A proper auto electrician will provide a timeframe after diagnosing the fault and should be able to turn around standard repairs within a day or two.
Does running the air conditioning in winter help maintain the system?
Yes, using your air conditioning during colder months can actually help extend its lifespan. Running the system keeps the compressor seals lubricated and prevents moisture build-up inside the unit, which can lead to mould or unpleasant smells. It also helps clear your windscreen by removing humidity from the air. Even just switching it on for a few minutes each week through winter can prevent issues caused by inactivity and keep the system in better shape for summer.
