When Percy Gibson arrived in Belmont and opened Gibson Auto Electrical back in 1945, the auto-electrical trade was considerably different. A far cry from today's host of on-board electronics, diagnostics and safety features, a vehicle's most complicated auto-electrical issue would've been a faulty dynamo or starter motor; even alternators didn't exist until the 60s. But even then, Percy's diligent work, quality repairs and friendly manner with customers set the tone for the workshop's future, and saw it become an established name in Belmont.
Today's Gibbo's Auto Electrics, now owned and operated by experienced technicians Paul O'Brien and Scott Dunks, carries on the same customer-focused traditions, while keeping up to date on the latest repair techniques and modern vehicles' much more diverse range of electronic features. Paul and Scott lead a team of six auto electricians and administration staff, boasting a combined 90 years of automotive experience. On top of conventional auto-electrical repairs and installations, Gibbo's also offers a breakdown service for stranded workers and drivers in the Belmont area, as well as fleet maintenance for business owners and tradespeople.
